The Curling season is slowly winding down and I hope that everyone has enjoyed the season. Club membership was down from last year but there is a glimmer of hope in it being an Olympic year, and that Canada won both Gold and Silver. Interest in Curling usually peaks after the games and it was decided that the club should host an open house. In all we had roughly fifty persons show up and express interest in the game. Gerry Foliot and Jon Bazar headed this up and talk now is of having the same type of open house at the beginning of the year. With the right advertising and each member talking it up this could attract a fair amount of new members to the club. Gerry and Jon and everyone who worked on this, well done.

The Curling executive this year formed a Technical committee. This committee is headed up by Serges Berube. Sitting on the committee is Bill Samson, Art Woods, Peter Mansel and Roger Segun our ice man. It’s my hope that we start to look at improvements to the Club. The first objective of this group is to put together a list of items that need to be addressed from most to least important. It’s only then that we can start to make improvements based on a priority basis. I think it’s long over due that we have a group that will be proactive in upkeep and improvements at the club.
